If you glance at the magazines at the cash registers in the supermarket, you are sure to see a large number of weight loss ideas. Most of them are fad diet pills and weight loss supplements which for the most part do not produce. We all know the healthy ways to lose weight involves diet and exercise But the weight loss business is fraught with misleading information and myths. Let us examine some of these myths.
Myth#1: Spot reduction of fat is possible: This cannot possibly be true .You cannot force your body to spot reduce your fat under any circumstances, no matter what type of workouts you do. [If you only do leg lifts and crunches regularly in the hope of reducing belly fat you will find that instead of reducing your belly fat you will reduce the muscle mass that resides below the abdomen. Your emphasis should not be on crunches and leg lifts by themselves; you should also be on a healthy diet that would speed up the metabolic rate which will help you burn body fat fast.
. Myth#2: A drastic reduction of calorie intake reduces your body fat: This myth has pushed many a person to the brink of crash dieting. People take to crash dieting in the hope of shedding those extra pounds, not realizing that crash dieting could harm their bodies instead of helping them. As a matter of fact, when you starve or fast, your body believes that you are going to harm it and then it goes into the starvation mode. While in starvation mode, your body slows down your metabolic rate and burns your muscles (instead of fat, which is kept in reserve) for producing energy. So the weight you are losing is not fat; if anything, you loss muscle mass. And unfortunately when you return to your normal diet, you will put back, not only the weight that was lost, but even more fat.
Myth#3: Doing only cardio exercises will help you lose weight: While it is true that cardio exercises can help you lose fat, it is not true that this is the only type of weight loss exercises available; don’t forget the aerobics. In due course, the amount of fat you will burn doing aerobics or cardio is almost identical. Conversely, lifting weights is of greater benefit than both aerobics and cardio because it not only allows you to burn fat during the workout, but it also increases your bones strength.
I hope that I have given you some insights on dieting myths and that you will find healthy ways to lose weight.
