If you are 20% or more in excess of ideal weight, you are said to be obese. The most common understanding of ideal weight is what is given 1983 Metropolitan Life Insurance Table. On a rough basis, for men it is 106 lbs for the first 5 feet height plus 6 lbs for each additional inch. (As for women, it is 100 lbs for the first 5 feet height plus addition at the rate of 5 lbs for each additional inch).
